Col. Daniel Boone & the American Revolution
Many know Daniel Boone as an explorer and commercial long hunter who wandered the forests of early America and led pioneers through the Cumberland Gap in 1775 as part of America’s first westward expansion. As the American Revolution raged from 1775 through 1783, how many know that Daniel Boone was very active in the American War for Independence? This presentation documents Col. Boone’s extensive service during the Revolution when he rose to the rank of Colonel in the Virginia Militia, participated in multiple battles, served in several civil positions, and after being elected to the Virginia Legislature was captured by Lt. Col. Tarleton’s dragoons. It’s being hosted by the Col. Alexander Erwin Chapter of the North Carolina Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.
