Sculptor Brenda Mauney Councill was commissioned to create a monument to commemorate the pioneers that settled in the mountains of North Carolina which included Daniel Boone. Robert Alvin Crum has been asked to speak at this unveiling and dedication as a direct descendant of Daniel Boone and a Board Member of the North Carolina Daniel Boone Heritage Trail.
