I have a story to tell.

Daniel Boone was not just a commercial hunter and explorer on the frontier.

He’s family.

Robert Alvin Crum is an historian, writer, visual artist, and public speaker who also portrays his sixth great-grandfather Colonel Daniel Boone. He earned his Bachelor of Arts at Bradley University in political science with a concentration in history and studied law for two years at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.

Growing up in Illinois, Robert was often told by family that he’s a direct descendant of Colonel Daniel Boone and his wife Rebecca Bryan. After moving to North Carolina in 1989, he realized that he was living and walking in the same places as his Boone and Bryan ancestors.

For decades, Robert has been researching, writing, painting and telling stories about the Boone and Bryan families. He continues to do talks, presentations, television interviews, writes articles, and completes and exhibits drawings, paintings and photos on topics related to his ancestors in the North Carolina backcountry in the mid to late 1700’s.

Robert is a past board member of The Boone Society, Inc., a Life Member of the Society of Boonesborough, a board member of the North Carolina Daniel Boone Heritage Trail, a member of the Fort Boonesborough Foundation, a member of the Friends of Boone’s Trace, and Founding and Immediate Past President of the Col. Daniel Boone Chapter – NCSSAR.
