Joppa Cemetery Patriot Grave marking Ceremony

  • Joppa Cemetery U.S. Highway 601 North Mocksville, NC, 27028 United States (map)

This is an America 250th Project for the Daughters of the American Revolution, and it is being sponsored by the Colonel Joseph Winston Chapter-NSDAR and the Col. Daniel Boone Chapter-North Carolina Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. During this ceremony, the DAR and SAR will set stones and bronze plaques to mark the graves of Revolutionary War Patriots Evan Ellis, Aaron Van Cleve, and John Wilcoxson. There is a Boone family connection to two of these Patriots. Aaron Van Cleve’s daughter Jane was married Squire Boone, Jr., and John Wilcoxson was married to Daniel Boone’s oldest sister Sarah Boone. This ceremony is open to the general public. Robert Alvin Crum is involved in research, writing, organizing and orchestrating this event.
